Prof. Mamoun Homeida

Prof. Mamoun Homeida, MD is professor of Medicine and Chairman Board of Trustees at the University of Medical Sciences and Technology, Khartoum Sudan. Mamoun is an expert consultant in combating and elimination of Onchocerciasis. He was a member of Community Directed Intervention (TDR, WHO BLII), was a member of the Filariasis Task Force (TDR WHO), was a member and chairman of Technical Consultative Committee (TCC), AfricanProgramme of Onchocerciasis (APOC), was a President of the Sudanese Association of Physicians, a member of the Sudanese Association of Gastroenterology since 1980, was an honorary member of American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, was a member and chairman of WHO-NTD Stag Working group on Monitoring Drug Efficacy,and presently chairman of Onchocerciasis Elimination Mapping, Project Advisory Group by Sightsavers and funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation which has started in February 2018.

He established and successfully running a private university, the University of Medical Sciences and Technology (UMST) and supervised the running of the hospitals of the Academy Teaching Hospital, and three affiliated hospitals of Yastabshiroon, Al Zaytouna Specialized Hospital and Al Tamayouz Center for Accidents and Emergency. However, when the civil war broke in Sudan in April 2023, he continued a cross-border education in Rwanda and established anew UMST. As Professor of Medicine, he is actively involved in teaching of Tropical Medicine, Research Methods andClinical Pharmacology. He authored the following books: 1) Clinical Manual Clinical Examination How to do it? 2) Therapeutics Road Map I & 2 3) Roadmap to Research Methods for Health Professionals.
