Dr. Nkechi Oluwakemi Dike

Dr. Nkechi O. Dike is a Physician-Educator and Senior Lecturer at the University of Cape Coast School of MedicalSciences (UCCSMS), with 13 years in academia, and almost 2 decades in medicine. A specialist in Emergency Medicine witha subspecialty in Simulation-Based Medical Education, she has been a key force in advancing medical training throughcompetency-based methodologies. She is a graduate of the University of Ghana Medical School; completed her EmergencyMedicine residency at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) under the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons; andfurther specialized with a Fellowship in Medical Simulation at Mayo Clinic (Mayo Clinic College of Medicine & Science)Florida.


Since joining UCCSMS in 2012, she has pioneered simulation-based curriculum integration, particularly post-COVID-19, and has trained over 750 medical and nursing faculty in Ghana through workshops and courses that enhanceclinical competence and patient safety.


Beyond Ghana, Dr. Dike has led key simulation-based initiatives across Africa since 2019, convening Ghana’s first-ever Medical Education Symposium in 2020, of top medical education leaders to reimagine medical training in Ghana. Sheconceptualized and co-facilitated SimCup - the continent’s first international simulation-based emergency care competition -at the 2022 African Conference of Emergency Medicine (AfCEM), which is now a permanent fixture in the EmergencyMedicine conferences. Her international collaborations, including with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine andAMEND/FIA Foundation, have advanced life-saving skills in emergency obstetrics, neonatal care, and road safety. As amentor to Faculty across three African countries, she is shaping the future of medical simulation, faculty development, andhealthcare training in Africa.
