Prof. Thomas Thesen

Dr. Thomas Thesen is an Associate Professor of Medical Education & Computer Science at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, where he co-directs the Geisel Academy of Educators & Scholars. He is also a Visiting Professor and Medical Educator at Aga Khan University Kenya. He is recognized for pioneering the use of AI in medical education, including AI-powered patient simulators for clinical skills training.

Dr. Thesen directs the Neuroscience-Informed Learning & Education (NILE) Lab at Dartmouth, exploring how Generative AI and digital health can support personalized learning and wellness for healthcare trainees. His research has been funded by the NIH, NSF, Wellcome Trust, and the American Medical Association. At Dartmouth, he directs the Neuroscience & Neurology course, the Medical Learning Sciences course, and the AI & Digital Health Curriculum. His teaching honors include the Course Director Excellence Award from the American Academy of Neurology.
