
Dr. Cara A Liebert
Cara A. Liebert, MD is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at Stanford University, where she serves as Associate Chair of Education and Associate Program Director for the General Surgery Residency Program. She is a board-certified General Surgeon with fellowship training in Advanced GI/Minimally Invasive Surgery. Dr. Liebert completed medical school, General Surgery, and Surgical Education Fellowship training at Stanford University.
Her academic work focuses on global surgical education, education innovation, competency-based medical education, and assessment. In partnership with the College of Surgeons of East, Central, and Southern Africa (COSECSA) and University of Global Health Equity in Rwanda, Dr. Liebert and colleagues co-developed the ENTRUST Platform, a online accessible virtual patient simulation to assess clinical decision-making. ENTRUST has been implemented for learning and assessment in partnerships across Africa, including COSECSA, University of Global Health Equity (Rwanda), Alzaiem Alazhari University (Sudan), and Gaston Berger University (Senegal).
