
Dr. Engida Girma
Dr. Engida Girma is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Addis Ababa University and a practicing psychiatrist at Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital. His work spans clinical care, medical education, psychotherapy, and mental health research. He has taught and mentored psychiatry residents and psychologists, published scientific papers, and provided mental health training for non-specialist health professionals.
His clinical practice focuses on psychotherapeutic interventions for trauma, grief, stress, and dissociation. His research interests include measuring trauma and its outcomes in clinical and humanitarian settings, as well as developing culturally relevant approaches to mental health assessment and care in Ethiopia.
Dr. Girma has also served in student affairs leadership roles at the School of Medicine of Addis Ababa University, where he contributed to the establishment and implementation of student financial support and mental health services. He is an alumnus of the Global Initiative for Neuropsychiatric Genetics Education in Research Fellowship.
