
Dr. Rosa Chemwey Ndiema
Dr Chemwey is a self-driven consultant, passionate about quality of healthcare especially in maternal health. In her 4year tenure as the Chair of Quality Assurance and Performance Appraisal at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) she spearheaded activities ranging from setting annual departmental objectives, monitoring and evaluation of unit performance in relation to set targets and liase with external auditors to continually improve healthcare at the hospital.
Dr Chemwey’s innovative attribute was recently recognized by the Board of Management of Kenya’s largest teaching and referral hospital where as the Head of Unit in Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) she engaged in capacity building over 5000 healthcare workers at the onset of COVID19 pandemic. Moreover, together with 11 other IPC practitioners whom she led in mapping out and providing continuous IPC support to 8 designated Infectious Disease Units for COVID management. She has led winning teams in Kenya’s first successful intrauterine fetal transfusion, a medical milestone for the country
Additionally, she has extensive work in preeclampsia from clinical management at KNH to assessment of improvement of quality of care following educational intervention at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital and core team participation with the proposed multicenter PEARLS clinical trial on Preeclampsia Prediction and prevention as a Co-PI in the Kenyan site. Currently, she is principal lead of Maternal and Newborn Health Project at Kericho and Elgeyo Marakwet County sponsored by collaborative efforts of B.Braun and GIZ
