Prof. Gabriel .O Ogun

Professor Gabriel .O Ogun is currently a Professor of Anatomical Pathology and Provost  of The School of Medicine and Allied health Sciences, University of The Gambia. He is also the Head of Pathology and Laboratory medicine @ Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul, The Gambia. He also serves as The Chairperson of the University of The Gambia Research Ethics Committee. He completed a six-year residency and fellowship training in 2005, and he is a board-certified Anatomical pathologist.

In the past he was the pioneer Head of Medical Education and Head of Department of Anatomical Pathology at a new medical school at Edo University Iyamho, Nigeria. Professor Ogun started his academic career  in 2006 at the University of Ibadan medical school, Nigeria where he served for 15 years. He was a former Head of Department of Pathology at The University of Ibadan and University College Hospital, Ibadan. In the Gambia he has ensured that the curriculum of The Medical school was reviewed aligning with contemporary concepts in medical education with a local Gambian flavour. He has a great passion for medical education and the training of the next generation of medical doctors for Africa.
