Dr. Nkechi O. Dike is a Physician-Educator and Senior Lecturer at the University of Cape Coast School of Medical Sciences (UCCSMS), with 13 years in academia, and almost 2 decades in medicine. A specialist in Emergency Medicine with a subspecialty in Simulation-Based Medical
Education, she has been a key force in advancing medical training through competency-based methodologies. She is a graduate of the University of Ghana Medical School; completed her Emergency Medicine residency at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) under the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons; and further specialized with a Fellowship in Medical Simulation at Mayo Clinic (Mayo Clinic College of Medicine & Science) Florida.
Since joining UCCSMS in 2012, she has pioneered simulation-based curriculum integration, particularly post-COVID-19, and has trained over 750 medical and nursing faculty in Ghana through workshops and courses that enhance clinical competence and patient safety.
Beyond Ghana, Dr. Dike has led key simulation-based initiatives across Africa since 2019, convening Ghana’s first-ever Medical Education Symposium in 2020, of top medical education leaders to reimagine medical training in Ghana. She conceptualized and co-facilitated SimCup - the continent’s first international simulation-based emergency care competition - at the 2022 African Conference of Emergency Medicine (AfCEM), which is now a permanent fixture in the Emergency Medicine conferences. Her international collaborations, including with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and AMEND/FIA Foundation, have advanced life-saving skills in emergency
obstetrics, neonatal care, and road safety. As a mentor to Faculty across three African countries, she is shaping the future of medical simulation, faculty development, and healthcare training in Africa.
